“One voice can change a room.

And if it can change a room, it can change a city.

And if it can change a city, it can change a state.

And if it can change a state, it can change a nation.

And if it can change a nation, it can change the world.”

PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA

Our Story

Endowed by natural splendor, and positioned just outside the urban center, Carver County has staked a claim as one of the most unique areas in Minnesota to live. With a rich farming heritage along the historic Minnesota River, In addition to corn and soybeans, we have vineyards, orchards and dairy plus a growing industrial district to the east. The county has experienced surging momentum and growth.

But that’s not all that has changed. Our communities have grown more economically and ethnically diverse. A once conservative county has grown more progressive over time. In 2016, the average difference between candidates in the elections was +23% for Republicans, but we elected a Democrat to the US Congress to represent the eastern half of the county to join our two Democratic Senators in Washington and and our State Government leadership in St. Paul. In 2018, in the former 47B MN House race, it came down to a difference of 116 votes. In 2020, we were about 800 votes short in the former 47B House race and we were competitive in the State Senate race. In the 2020 Presidential race, we won the cities of Chanhassen, Chaska, and Carver and we are knocking on the door in Waconia and Victoria. Under our new district boundaries, in 2022, we elected the first Democrat to the Minnesota House Seat 47B - Lucy Rehm to represent Chanhassen and most of Chaska.

Due to the rapid growth in our population, our territory was reduced during redistricting after the 2020 census and we were given a new Senate District number, creating the new Senate District 48, which happily, will have bluer skies ahead.

Senate District 48 should be considered a battleground district for future elections. That means a large spotlight will be on us in 2024, but we will also be a massive target from the opposition. We need to hold our seats in the Minnesota Legislature, the state offices and federal offices, and we can do it. Our Democracy depends on it.
